Shared Governance

The academic governance of the School of Engineering (SoE) at UC Merced is administered through the following four committees:

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of the Dean of the School, ex-officio, and up to the larger of the number of undergraduate programs and seven (7) voting members of the faculty, elected annually, a vice-chair, and a chair. The responsibility of the Executive Committee is to consult with and advise the dean on all aspects of the school’s academic administration, including budget and fiscal matters, faculty recruitment and mentoring, research, and student recruitment and success.

Academic Personnel Committee

The Academic Personnel Committee consists of a chair and a co-chair. The charge to this committee is to form ad-hoc committees for academic performance evaluations and make sure faculty recommendations are delivered to the dean promptly, consistent with timing requirements determined by the Academic Personnel Office.
 
The 2016-2017 members are:

Effective July 1, 2015, Prof. Paul Maglio was appointed Associate Dean for Academic Personnel to oversee the School of Engineering's academic personnel staff in managing the processing of academic performance evaluations.
