Light Microscopy and Crystallography Modeling Center
The Light Microscopy and Crystallography Modeling Center handles up to 24 students at one time. There are eight light microscopes with transmitted and reflected light capabilities. Samples can be viewed in various modes like bright field, dark field, phase and fluorescence imaging. Each microscope has an attached digital camera connected to a computer for documentation purposes. Additionally, each of the eight computers has software for image processing, image analysis and image database for archiving. Along with a complement of data-analysis tools used in conjunction with the data collected in the Imaging and Microscopy lab, students will also be able to access Accelrys Modeling and Crystallography software. This facility is an open lab available to many science classes, including materials modeling and modeling nanoscale processes in biology, among others.
